"We don't treat aneurysms.
We treat people who have them."
Dear Patients and Family Members,
Welcome to our center’s website! We are delighted that you have found your way to us.
At our center, we focus on a comprehensive and individualized assessment of brain aneurysms and their treatment.
Whether you’re visiting us because of a concerning diagnosis or out of general interest, we’d like to familiarize you with our specialized approach to treating this condition.
For more than twenty years, we have been intensively studying this condition - both in research and in treatment. Our work has significantly shaped our current understanding of brain aneurysms - from their formation and growth to the individualized assessment of their risk. We combine this scientific expertise with interdisciplinary care, in which every decision is based on the latest medical findings and the personal circumstances of our patients.
We treat people by taking into account their life story, their family, their risk factors, their fears, and their own ideas about what constitutes a good life. Sometimes this leads to a recommendation for surgery or an intervention. Very often, however, we can tell you: You can continue living as you have been - and - we’ll be right by your side!
Take your time. You have it.
Prof. Dr. med. Nima Etminan & Prof. Dr. Gabriel J. E. Rinkel
What Sets Us Apart
Brain aneurysms are more common than people think. However, the vast majority pose no danger and do not require treatment. For this reason, our center focuses on a careful, individualized risk assessment.
Our first question is therefore, “What is the right course of action for this person?”
This question is answered by a team that is skilled in both treatment and the informed decision to forgo it. Our specific approach is guided by international guidelines—which our team played a key role in developing—the results of our own research, and our experience with both surgical and interventional procedures.
